Tending the Temple


This week on TikTok and Instagram, I featured a recipe for the Green Glow Elixir. But beauty and health is so much more than just juicing—it’s how we nourish our mind, soul and body. Here are a few things I’ve learned in my journey about how to support your natural radiance from a holistic view:

The way you wake up sets the tone for your entire day.

I was the kind of person that skipped breakfast. For almost 30 years, I deprived my body of essential fuel to get through the day and then wondered why I was always exhausted. Now, I start my day with a huge nourishing meal, focusing on protein, complex carbs, and fiber. I drink my juice on an empty stomach, load up on water, and if the sun is out that day, I soak it up for at least 10 minutes (like taking my breakfast outside). I don’t dare have my espresso until after all of this is done. Plus, it makes it feel like a reward for doing what is good for me first.

I can attest to the enormous difference that it’s made in my energy and mood. With all the crazy diet trends right now, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with all the possibilities, so the only thing that I can tell you with confidence is that you have to experiment and find out what works for you. There really isn’t one right answer for anyone. You just have to listen carefully to your body, and make sure to have fun with it!

What you consume will be what comes out of you. The hard work you put in, and the work you don’t, will show.

You have to put in the work. You have to do the research. You have to try many things. There are no shortcuts when it comes to health, and I think that is the most frustrating thing that tends to discourage us, especially when we aren’t seeing results as quickly as we thought. I know how demoralizing it can feel. But the truth is, this is an ongoing investment in yourself. It will never stop, and it shouldn’t. It is a blessing to be able to tend to our temple.

If you’re feeding yourself bad food, negative media, and spend your time with people who do the same, the results are going to show all over your life and physical wellbeing. If it doesn’t immediately, it will in the long run. The exact same is true when it comes to nourishing yourself with good foods, uplifting content, and being surrounded by people who believe in you.

The little choices you make are the foundation for your greatest results.

Don’t be so disillusioned to think that huge significant changes are made overnight. We tend to forget that once you make a decision to change your life, it’s a choice that has to be made again and again, every single day. And every decision you make, no matter how insignificant you might believe it to be, compounds into the tapestry that is a completely different way of life. Evolution is a process. A beautiful, sometimes painful, lengthy process.

This is also why it’s critical to have a good community around you. It’s hard enough to step out of your comfort zone, but when you know you have a support group behind you with the same goal in mind, it’s much easier to keep going after a stumble or relapse. It’s why I created this space!

Green Glow Elixir

Ingredients:

  • 1 bunch Celery

  • 1 Cucumber

  • 1 Lemon

  • 1/2 Pineapple

  • 1 qt of Coconut water

  • 1 bunch Parsley

  • Ginger to taste

    For a blender, cut the ingredients into small pieces, add coconut water, and blend.

    For a juicer, juice all ingredients first and then add coconut water.

    Enjoy on an empty stomach and throughout the day! I would also suggest keeping a food log and journal how it makes you feel.
