Love + Letting Go

First, I want to acknowledge the heavy Venusian influence of today. We have two planets and the moon in Taurus, as well as Libra in Venus, and two planets in Pisces (ruled by Neptune, the higher octave of Venus) all falling on Friday—also known as Venus day. You can find a more in depth look at each of the current planetary alignments and how this affects your sign here.

Overall, this Full Moon is like a cosmic balancing act. On one hand, you have the grounding, earthy energy of Taurus wanting to stay comfortable and secure, while indulging in the pleasures of life; and on the other, Scorpio is pushing you to transform and face the truths you’ve been avoiding. The key is to release old fears and patterns holding you back from experiencing true stability and abundance, while also being open to unexpected blessings and changes.

Over the course of the past two years, I’ve gotten into a routine in which I find myself mostly comfortable. I’m making good and steady money, live on the water, and have all that I need, material wise; but if I’m being transparent, it has come at a high price, and Scorpio is bringing that to light now for me to transmute and evolve into something better. I’ve outgrown my circumstances, and I’m sure alot of you are probably feeling similiar. Like I’ve been expressing before: the nature of life is change, and now is the perfect time to implement this.

Below is a simple ritual that utilizes today’s Venusian energies to assist you. You can adjust it to your preferences and environment (see Witch Tips section for alternatives and ideas). As for me, I’m utilizing the water as my natural element.

What you’ll need:

  • A comfortable space, preferably somewhere earthy (near plants, outdoors, or wherever you can ground yourself)

  • Since I currently live on a boat, I will not be utilizing candles or crystals, but you can. Green, pink, gold or white work for Taurus and Venus; some crystals for Taurus are jade, aventurine, or rose quartz

  • Pen + paper for journaling

  • Lavender, sage or rosemary smudges for cleansing (you could even use cannabis… hehe)

  • Optional: To make this ritual more lavish (in the true spirit of Venus), conclude with a rose + milk bath. It is important that the roses are food grade and organic, as most store-bought roses contain harmful pesticides that you don’t want on your skin. Additionally, your tub or shower should be cleaned thoroughly beforehand.

Steps for the ritual:

  • Begin by cleansing your space with herbs or incense. Be sure to set your intentions here to release stagnant energy, clear it away, and make space for the new.

  • As you sit comfortably beneath the moonlight, feel the earth beneath you. Make sure to pay close attention to how it feels on your skin and really connect to it, like growing roots (or think of the Na’avi from Avatar). Close your eyes and take some deep calming breaths. Don’t think about anything except your connection to the earth at this point.

  • When you’re calm and clear headed, write down what you want to bring into your life. Let this flow from you naturally; be as specific as you want. Fold the paper and place it under your candle or crystal, repeating affirmations of how you are deserving of what you’re calling in and ready to receive. (If you are not using these things, you can place this paper under your pillow, release it into the water, or bury it in the ground.)

  • Give thanks to the Universe, the Moon, and your guides for their help bringing your desires into your life. If you’re using a candle, light it here.

  • If you’ve chosen to conclude the ritual with a rose + milk bath (I use coconut, but any milk will do), prepare your ingredients in a separate bowl. I also like to add a few spritzes of my perfume to infuse my essence into it. You can customize this bath to your preference; the most important thing is that the elements of Venus are present here. If you like, play sensual music that makes you feel beautiful.

  • Once the bath is prepared, step into your tub full of warm water (or shower), and cleanse yourself from the neck down with it, repeating what you wish to let go of: old patterns or habits, toxic attachments or people, etc. Be very specific. Do not soak for longer than 30 minutes.

  • When you’re done cleansing, stay in the tub until the water drains, visualizing all the things you specified running down the drain with it. Thank the Universe and your guides for listening and assisting you in this process of letting go, and most importantly, thank yourself for having the strength to go through with it.

  • Carry on your nightly routine as usual, harnessing the Venusian energy of beauty and pleasure.

    Witch tips:

  • If you’re like me and live by the ocean (or any body of water that is safe), this ritual can be heightened even more by bathing in it in place of, or in addition to, this ritual bath.

  • You can write your intentions on the candle itself, either with a sharpie on a votive or by carving it on a wax candle. You can also write them in the sand or in the dirt.

  • Dressing your candles with Venusian herbs and oils will amplify its magic.

  • The more elements of Venus you incorporate into this ritual, the better, but alternately, all you really need is intention and the elements of earth. You can make this as lavish or as simple as you want. Don’t stress about what you do or don’t have. Follow your intuition!
